You may be rolling your eyes, but icebreakers exist for a reason. They’re a quick and easy way to get people to engage with one another that’s both fun and interactive. 2. Mentoring Opportunities

This is especially helpful for young or new employees, but it can be used on each and every worker. The workplace can get lonely and overwhelming, especially if one is doing it all on their own. Set up a program where senior employees pair up with younger and/or newer employees to show them the ropes and help them settle into the workspace and the career. This is also a great way to foster lasting friendships.

3. Company Potlucks

It’s no secret that people bond over food, so why not hold a feast every once and a while for you and your employees. To cut down on costs, have employees bring their own dishes to share. 4. Family Activities

Family is a large part of the lives of your employees, so show your workers that you care about their family as much as they do. There are plenty of activities you can create for the entire family, such as picnics, sporting events, and parties. 

5. Set Up Collaborative Projects

Encourage your employees to make friends and connections with collaborative projects. These will help with team building and creating trust between employees. Try to pair different employees for each project so that they can meet new people each time around. 

6. Emphasize the Importance of Health and Wellness

When work is the prime focus in the workplace, it can create a high-stress environment. Bring back an element of humanity in the office by reminding your employees that they’re important too. 7. Have Some One on One Time

Take time once a month to connect with employees one on one to see how they’re doing, what’s going well for them, what’s not working  out, and what you can do to help. Take someone out to lunch to show your appreciation for everything they do for the company. Such connection will show employees that you genuinely care about them as people and not just robots typing away on computers. 

8. Volunteer Together

A great way to get employees engaged in their work is to give back to the local community. Volunteering helps open your eyes to other struggles in the world, and giving back helps create caring, compassionate, selfless employees. 9. Make Your Employees Feel Visible and Known

Send employees texts, emails, or cards thanking them for their hard work. It’s a great way to personally thank your employees for all they do as well as make them feel visible in the workplace. Always be sure to write the note yourself to add that extra layer of care and gratitude. 

10. Take Advantage of Free Days at Local Museums and Parks

You want your employees to be lifelong learners, and one way to do this is to engage them in culture, art, and history through local museums and parks. Usually these places can be expensive even with discounts, but most all museums and parks offer free days for people to enjoy. Plot out a few of these free days per semester and take your employees on a field trip. It’s a great way to relax and have fun while learning together.
